Before Celebrating Easter, Know This Curious Facts About It

Easter, known also as Pascha or Resurrection Sunday is a holiday tradition of the Catholic church.

This commemorates the resurrection of Jesus from death on the third day.

But this celebration, beyond religion, is one of the most popular traditions in the country.

Surrounded on the Easter bunny who brings eggs this day, this holiday has turned into one of the most commercial during the year.

Let us show you some curiosities about Easter that you’d probably didn’t know.

According to Elite Daily, the term Easter comes from Eastre, Anglo-Saxon goddess represented in the hare and the egg.

The art of painting eggs is named pysanka, and it’s originated in Ukraine.

People use wax and dyes to color the eggs.

In the United States, 12 of the 50 states recognize Good Friday as a holiday.

Talking about numbers, approximately Americans spent the incredible amount of $14.7 billion on this date in the country.

And, in case you didn’t know, next to Halloween is the biggest candy consuming holiday.

Among this, Americans consume 16 million jelly beans and more than 700 million marshmallow Peeps during Easter.

So, the winner of this round is Peeps as the most popular non-chocolate Easter candy.

But, this doesn’t mean chocolate is in second place.

70% of all candy purchased on Easter, is chocolate. Surprised? We don’t.

In fact, the tallest and biggest Easter egg chocolate was made in Italy in 2011, with a height of 10.39 meters and a weight of 7,200 kg.

We think dentists should be happy about this, right? More job to do.

And, as if Americans were not traditional enough, 76% think we should start eating our chocolate bunnies from the ears. Are you doing it this way?

This continues with a 5% that goes for the feet and 4% for the tail.  

Traditionally, The White House stated back the Easter Egg Roll in 1878, with the president Rutherford B. Hayes.

Florida is the state with the largest Easter egg hunt (don’t forget this part of the tradition), with 9,753 children were searching 501,000 eggs.

The idea of Easter bunny giving candies is supposed to be originated in Germany, and, the egg represents joy, celebration, and new life.

The resurrection of Christ is the oldest Christian holiday, plus, one of the most important days of the year.

But, even though you are religious or not, Easter is a good weekend filled with emotion and sharing with the family.
