A 20-year-old woman in Bogotá says she was violently attacked after a minor traffic dispute escalated into a brutal assault, according to local outlet CityTV. The incident took place in the Milenta neighborhood of Puente Aranda, a working-class district in the Colombian capital.
The confrontation reportedly began when a “bicitaxi”—a pedal-powered rickshaw commonly used for short-distance transport in parts of Bogotá—drove into an area reserved exclusively for pedestrians. After the initial argument, the woman says the bicitaxi driver and a female companion followed her to a nearby store.
Security camera footage reviewed by CityTV reportedly shows the pair dragging the woman out of the establishment, throwing her to the ground, and hitting her multiple times. She also says they stole her cellphone during the attack.
According to the footage, the alleged attacker was wearing a vest bearing the logo of Uaesp, Bogotá’s special administrative unit that oversees public services such as waste collection and street vending regulation. A separate witness account claims the same man later threatened a motorcyclist with a machete.
