A terrifying scene unfolded on a highway in Mexico after a tow truck caught fire and spun wildly out of control, nearly crushing a bystander who happened to be nearby. Footage of the incident, released this week, shows the vehicle careening across the roadway in flames, smashing repeatedly into guardrails before finally flipping over.
In the chaotic moments captured on camera, a man standing close to the road can be seen leaping out of the way just in time, avoiding what could have been a fatal collision by mere inches. Witnesses described the scene as pure panic as the burning truck lost all control and barreled toward anyone in its path.
The runaway vehicle didn’t just endanger the man who dodged it. Its erratic spinning triggered a chain-reaction crash involving several other cars, a pileup that left a total of five people injured. Authorities have not yet released details about the cause of the fire or the extent of the injuries suffered by those involved in the crash.
The video, which quickly spread on social media, underscores just how quickly a routine highway situation can spiral into a life-threatening emergency. To watch the full clip and see how the dramatic escape unfolded, check out the original report.
