Ukrainian police have released bodycam footage they say documents a deadly “double-tap” bombing in the southern village of Komyshuvakha, in the Zaporizhzhia region. The video, recorded by a police officer who was later killed, shows residents walking through rubble after an initial Russian strike on Monday, then hurrying into an underground shelter after officers warn more bombs are incoming. Moments later, an explosion hits the shelter and the recording cuts off.

Ukrainian officials say nine glide bombs, some weighing as much as 3,300 pounds (1,500 kg), struck the village while people had gathered to collect humanitarian aid at a site near a local school. At least 40 people were killed, and President Volodymyr Zelensky said more than 30 others may still be trapped under the rubble as search efforts entered their third day.

Zelensky described the attack as a deliberate “double-tap” strategy — hitting civilians first, then targeting the rescuers and police who rushed to help — and called it one of thousands of war crimes committed by Russia since its 2022 invasion. He criticized what he called a muted international response. BBC Verify confirmed the footage was filmed at the same location as other videos showing the aftermath, including a massive crater left by the blast. Russian authorities have not commented on the strike.
