A split-second decision may have saved a child’s life on a busy street in Puebla, Mexico. Surveillance video captured the dramatic moment a worker dropped everything he was doing and took off running after a young girl who had wandered away and was heading straight toward moving vehicles.
In the footage, the employee sprints across the pavement, closing the distance just in time to scoop up the child before she steps into the road. The clip, which was shared widely online, shows how close the situation came to turning tragic, and how his fast reaction likely prevented a serious accident.
The rescue was one of several stories highlighted in a recent roundup from Telemundo. Another item noted that worshippers had returned to a church in Temascalcingo, a town in central Mexico, to pray for the victims of a recent fireworks explosion. That blast, which occurred at a site where pyrotechnics were reportedly being handled or stored, left 10 people dead and more than 60 injured, according to the report.
Fireworks accidents remain a recurring danger in parts of Mexico, where pyrotechnic production is often carried out in small, informal workshops with limited safety oversight, sometimes leading to deadly explosions.
