Thanksgiving Desserts

It’s hard to believe that it’s almost time for Thanksgiving again.  It’s such a wonderful time to gather and share are gratitude with those we love.  At our home, Thanksgiving is not complete without homemade pumpkin pie.  My grandmother’s recipe is so simple and delicious that there’s no reason to buy a frozen or store bought pie.

The variety of spices in this recipe give it it’s depth and flavor.  I  personally prefer the small measurements of spices but experiment and see what your family loves best.
Favorite Family Pumpkin Pie Recipe
1 1/2 cup pumpkin
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp.salt
1/2 -1 tsp ginger
1-1 1/4  tsp cinnamon
1/4 to 1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 to 1/2 tsp cloves
3 slightly beaten eggs
1 !/4 cup milk
1 6 oz can of evaporated milk
Mix spices with sugar.  Add remainder of ingredients.  Pour into unbaked pie shell.  Bake pie  at 425 degrees for the first 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350 degrees for 35 to  45 minutes.

If you are short on time, try Bluebell’s Spiced Pumpkin Pecan Ice Cream.  It is a slice of pumpkin pie right out of your freezer instead of your oven!!  It is scrumptious
